I am Franz Rivoira, your host and the author of the TWM ebook series.
And I’m happy to see you here.
Who I am
I’m a Marcomm professional and journalist (Order of Journalists, registered since 2006) with nearly 35 years across advertising, luxury marketing, and watch design.
I trained at Turin’s watchmaking school, and I wrote The Watch Manual to make real mechanical knowledge — movements, materials, manufacturing history — to be accessible to anyone curious about what’s actually inside a watch, without the jargon or the gatekeeping.
My work has reached over 40 million readers on Quora, and I’m the author of four books on horology. When I’m not writing, I’m usually chasing down a vintage reference for my own collection or arguing about the value of vintage timepieces in a collectors’ forum.
What I do
I’ve been educating people over horology for around 10 years on different media. Mainly on Quora, in which I have been nominated Top Writer 2018 but also in several blogs and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin).
